Ancient Connections Art, and the connections it creates for us, is an integral part of the A Place Apart community. Lancaster, Pennsylvania artist Jim Gallagher has drawn from his Irish heritage and many trips to Ireland to create a series of paintings that link ancient Neolithic and early Christian cultures. Gallagher has studied the mound tombs found throughout Ireland often employing the designs carved into the monolithic stones in the suggested shape of a cross. Paul Grout, Director of A Place Apart, writes, "When I first saw these paintings, I was so deeply moved by the depth of connection I felt that I asked Jim if A Place Apart could show one as an example of how are can make spiritual connections." Gallagher donated this painting to A Place Apart and it now hangs in our recently renovated gathering room. |
